Te Whanganui-A-Tara/Wellington faves DARTZ have released a brand spanking new song, 'Hoons' - a pop-punk instant-hit about "wasted sunny afternoons, the power of friendship and being absolute dogshit on a skateboard".
“With 'Hoons' I was really trying to make something that gave me that feeling of listening to specifically bands like Elemeno P as a kid - a song like 11:57 or Verona where it instantly etches itself into the deepest part of your brain” — Clark Mathews
With an eight day nationwide tour on the near-horizon, band member Danz muses on how well their audience responded to the catchy chorus when previewing it at shows.
“I think the very first time we played 'Hoons' live, by the final chorus everybody in the room was chanting along - I can’t wait to see how much people connect with the full recorded song, especially since for me 'Hoons' is really quite a personal and earnest thank you to the friends who have helped me to get through these past couple of years”.
'Hoons' was made with the help of NZ On Air, with a video due to be released in September. We'll be keepin our eyes peeled!
Listen to 'Hoons' below - and make sure you catch them live this August. Tickets here.
