Dateline's music oozes earnest emotion by blending earnest harmonies that hark back to early 00's indie pop, with the cool burn of UK guitar groups from the 90s. They have a new song out, with a snazzy video by Sports Team. This is Dumb For My Age:
Dateline is the musical project of Katie Everingham, a musician and songwriter currently based in Heretaunga/Hastings. Her band is made up of the cream of Tāmaki Makaurau's indie and alternative crop, featuring Callum Devlin (Hans Pucket), Priya Sami (Bub), and Ruby Walsh (Lips).
On her inspiration for the song, Everingham commented that "Dumb For My Age is about trying to be an adult and trying to go about things the right way but feeling like a bit of a kid and an imposter underneath it all."
To celebrate, the band are touring Te Ika-a-Māui in the month of June, starting with the Festival of Sunreturn in Auckland this Saturday! Check out the dates below:
