Hans Pucket are mere weeks away from the release of their sophomore album No Drama. Despite what the album name suggests, they are continuing to dish out the dramatics, this time in the form of a heart-thumping, spooky music video for their brand new single - 'Bankrupt'.
Featuring a mysterious amplifier that seems to be cursing the four members of the band in electrifying, sweaty way.
"'Bankrupt' might be my favourite song from the album, so naturally, I put myself in charge of directing this video," bassist Callum Devlin explains. "This concept (some form of “band in a room” video) has been banging around my brain for over a year. I’d been holding on to a lot of misplaced fear and dread around this album release, which I think led to this very dark tone. Annabel shot the hell out of it, and our skeleton “Prince Phillip” really stole the show. It was a truly cathartic experience, getting to electrocute the band for this video. Any fear is now gone, I am ready for the album to come out now."
And we can feel that readiness. This song is without a doubt the most high-strung of singles we've heard so far. It is teeming with energy, as if the band have opened up the floodgates in preparation for their new album to be birthed.
We've already heard about some NZ shows announced earlier this week, but Aotearoa won't be the only people lucky enough to experience their new album live. Hans Pucket have also just announced that they will be joining The Beths on their North American tour in 2023!
We've had 'Bankrupt' on repeat all day! Listen to the song and check out the music video below.
No Drama is out November 4 via Carpark Records which you can pre-order here via the Flying Nun Record Shop.
