Francisca Griffin, known as Kathy Bull until the mid 1990's, was the bassist and vocalist for iconic Flying Nun band Look Blue Go Purple, as well as the bass/guitar player and vocalist for the band Cyclops. She has released two albums under her own name since then (The Spaces In Between and Some From The Sky), but Live At The Crown Hotel, 14 August 2021 is the first to feature her full live band, The Bus Shelter Boys.
The live album comprises previously recorded songs that the band have been playing for years, however Griffin explains that she wanted to encapsulate their live sound outside of the walls of a studio.
"This is kinda fascinating really, coz we don’t know what we sound like live! We’re a bit chaotic, but that is a live set, isn’t it?"
The vibrant energy across the record is palpable, with each musician truly on form to deliver eight driving, sometimes raucous, but undeniably catchy songs that Flying Nun fans will love.
"This is also for all you stay at homes that never go out anymore (and quite likely still have tape decks) – buy this, take it home – or have it delivered from the band – turn it up real loud, and there you are, at the Crown!" - Francisca Griffin.
You can buy the album via their Bandcamp, either digitally or on cassette.
