Dale Kerrigan is the brainchild of Ōtepoti musician Shlee Nicholls (Mary Berry, Flesh Bug), alongside her mates Joel Field (Porpoise), Connor Blackie (Koizilla, Adelaide Cara), and Josh Nicholls (Koizilla, Fazed on a Pony, Asta Rangu, Space Bats Attack et al.). For Shlee, the band forms a response to the “ugly boy singing noise” stereotype, by way of combining her penchant for chunky riffage and free roaming noise with lyrics that speak directly from a woman’s perspective.
Their debut single, 'Grudge' is from the band’s forthcoming album Noise Bitch, set to be released this June. The album was live tracked early this year in the band’s home by Zac Nicholls (Koizilla), making Noise Bitch the third release to be recorded in this fashion by one of the trace / untrace whānau (alongside Koizilla’s 2020 release I Don’t Surf I Boogie and Bathysphere’s recent release Heaven is Other People).
