Ah, the month of May....the gift that keeps on giving. We woke up to the very welcome news that Satin Sheets has released a new single, 'see/D'. The Tāmaki Makaurau-based electronic artist delivers another smooth, glossy track that truly feels like swimming - another true vaporwave beauty from his upcoming sophomore album St. Francis II (via 100% Electronica).
The piece draws from smooth jazz, lounge music and R&B and chops, screws and decelerates it into a cool toned, tranquil soundscape. It is a captivating mix of nostalgic and futuristic...futuristic in a 2000's kind of way. When bubble furniture and lounge aquariums were the impression of the time to come (I'm thinking about those chill compilation CDs that were all the rage). The artwork, in keeping with the genre's overall aesthetic, captures components of early web design and glitch art.
St. Francis II is out later this year via 100% Electronica. Pre-save here.
