Compared to their previous single 'The Way It Works', 'Something' takes it down a gear, settling into a gentle, dusky space. Each instrument shines, the bassline and guitars dancing around the lazy back-beat, with strings and synths making the whole song really sing. And of course, you can't miss Oscar Mein's vocals, cheekily close to the mic and effortlessly cool.
Drummer, Conor Feehly, says that ‘“Something’ was definitely the fastest song to come together”. Mein agrees, adding that the lyrics were “downloaded” to him whilst going for a run in Haast.
Equally as serene is the accompanying music video directed by Martin Sagadin (Aldous Harding, Womb, Marlon Williams, Ben Woods....look, there are so many others that at this point we may as well call Martin a music vid veteran!!), featuring a very theatrical Oscar Mein in several scenes that look like they've been plucked straight from the pages of a fairytale book.
Check out the music video below and be sure to pre-order their upcoming album Working Title via the Flying Nun Record Shop here, or via their Bandcamp.
