The annual Student Radio Network Awards are back for 2022, proudly presented by NZ On Air and Naked PR. The ceremony brings together the tight union of student radio stations that feed our ears with the best of Aotearoa's contemporary and alternative community, and celebrates the presenters, volunteers and musicians who represent the backbone of these airwaves. These stations are 95bFM, Radio Control 99.4FM, Radio Active 88.6FM, RDU 98.5FM, and Radio One 91FM.
The awards will be held in person in Ōtepoti (Dunedin), at the University of Otago at 7pm on November 19 and streamed live across all five stations simultaneously. James Mehary of RDU says "The Student Radio Network continues to impress with their work on developing emerging musicians in Aotearoa. And as the undercurrent to the industry, the Student Radio Network Awards now extends their capability to profile the next, the new, the yet to be discovered.”
This constant evolvement and support is evident, especially with the introduction of two new awards; The Tohu Puoro o te reo Māori Award awarded to SRN's favourite tune featuring Te Reo Māori, and the Outstanding Achievement in Broadcasting given out by each station to a creator in their respective quarters who exemplifies the important work that they represent.
