Troy Kingi (Te Arawa, Ngāpuhi, Te Whānau-ā-Apanui) has just announced a new album, The Year Of The Ratbags - the next instalment in his 10 10 10 Series (10 albums in 10 years in 10 genres). So far, he has tackled folk, funk, roots, psychedelic soul and blues/soul. This time, he'll be paying homage to the glittering world of 80's synth pop, inspired by "television theme songs and the superstars of the period such as Prince & Talking Heads, even the radio friendly sound of bands such as Tears for Fears, The Human League and Duran Duran".
Accompanying the announcement is a set date for a live show at The Powerstation in Tāmaki Makaurau - with a dress code...80's casual. This sparkly night is not to be missed - details below.
