M. Ward – Transfiguration Of Vincent

A former member of the Californian trio Rodriguez, singer-songwriter M. Ward gained a bit of a following while supporting Bright Eyes on tour back in 2002, and has since drawn comparisons to Giant Sand, Tom Waits, and Grandaddy.

This is a reissue of his third solo album, originally released in 2003, and there's not a weak moment on this dark-horse gem of a disc. Ward’s controlled voice never falters or fails, which makes his words of wisdom drill into the soul with unquestionable power creating rich quilt of Americana, as if the folk, country and rock strands were brought together in a starlit saloon somewhere near the border.
