Asta Rangu hail from Ōtepoti Dunedin. Their just released album came out via the excellent small cassette label Trace/Untrace - home to many great recent records by artists like Night Lunch and Kane Strang. Exuberant 90s power-pop is perhaps not a genre you associate with down south, but that’s what we have here; feel good and uplifting, happy/sad, late summer and the vibes of passing youth.
An understated pulse blends Voom, Matthew Sweet and Sparklehorse into something wistful, but at the same time both hopeful and exuberant.
