Today, Tāmaki Makaurau-based electronic-pop producer extraordinaire, Amamelia, has announced her long awaited sophomore LP - Bananamelia! - coming to us on November 3rd via Sunreturn. Alongside the announcement, she has unveiled the first single titled 'Gap Selection'; a slow groove incorporating a downtempo beat with raw analog sounds played on an old Jen SX-1000 synth.
"'Gap Selection' was built off of a sample from 'Marble Run' (Track 1 on Bananamelia!)." Amamelia, AKA Amelia Berry muses. "I wanted to take it down from the 160bgm jungle tempo to transform it into something like a mid 90s downtempo track a la Yoshinori Sunahara or something from the Ninja Tune catalogue."

Bamamelia! - an album split into two suites of songs - is the sophomore project from Amamelia, who has been releasing music since 2019. Her debut album, WOW! made serious waves in 2020 and was shortlisted for Best Independent Debut at the 2021 Taite Music Prize. Aside from her solo project, Amelia performs in many other projects including Babyteeth, Van Staden & Böhm and Gayblade.
